Infertility can be a frustrating problem when you are trying to expand your family. It is said, by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, that 12% of women 15-44 years of age in the U.S. are unable to get pregnant after trying for a year, or are able to carry a pregnancy to term.
Traditionally, the medical approach to infertility is a series of tests to attempt to find out the problem, although about 10% of the time no cause can be found.1
A 2009 Issue of the Journal of Pediatric, Maternal & Family Health Chiropractic, presents three cases of infertility.
The first case presents a 33 year old who had been trying to conceive for 4 years despite assisted reproductive technology. The patient received a round of IVF after her 16th chiropractic adjustment which resulted in a full term pregnancy and happy healthy baby.
The second case also involved a 33 year old woman who had been attempting to conceive for the last 2 years. After 4 weeks of continuous care and dietary changes the patient had conceived.
The third case presented a 35 year old who had failed to conceive after 7 months and who was worried about her irregular cycles. At the 5thvisit, 12 days following the initiation of care, the patient reported that she was pregnant. Two months later, the patient suffered an idiopathic miscarriage.
Approximately 12 weeks after her miscarriage and with continued chiropractic care, the patient reported conceiving. The outcome was a full term pregnancy and delivery of a healthy baby. The patient received chiropractic care throughout her pregnancy.
If you are having trouble getting pregnant your chiropractor can help remove any subluxations or nerve interference that may be getting in the way.
