Neuropathy/ Peripheral Neuropathy and Chiropractic
A growing number of patients coming to see Dr. Fred Schofield at Atlas Chiropractic are suffering from Neuropathy or Peripheral Neuropathy. Often they have been given the diagnosis as a catch all, when conventional medicine cannot determine what the real problem is http://www.yourspine.com/Chiropractor/Chronic+Conditions/Neuropathy.aspx . Peripheral Neuropathy is a condition where the ends of the nerves, usually the feet, are described by the medical doctor as worn out. The patient may have symptoms such as numbness in one or both feet, cramping feet, painful feet, loss of balance, and/or skin dis-ease. It can be brought on by diabetes, B12 deficiency, trauma, infection or genetic factors. Chronic nerve pressure is often the cause.

Chronic nerve pressure is a common cause of Peripheral Neuropathy
Think of the human body as a garden. Like the human body, which requires healthy food and a good nerve supply, a garden requires rich soil and water to grow. But what would happen if the garden’s hose had a rock blocking it? The garden would wither and die. In the human body if the spinal cord or a nerve has pressure placed on it then the nerve will also die. The upper cervical (neck) spine, the first cervical atlas and the second cervical axis are the most common misalignments which cause loss of function in the peripheral nerves. Just as you would not fertilize the garden to unblock a rock from its hose, you would not take drugs when the bone needs to stop blocking the nerve. In both cases removing the block will allow the body to grow once more.
